Hey friends,
This week, a simple illustration stopped me in my tracks and taught me more about
leadership, empathy, and the daily choices we make than a hundred books ever could.
Imagine five doors. Above each one, a sign reads:
“To criticize.”
“To gossip.”
“To get involved.”
“To encourage.”
“To help.”
In front of “criticize” and “gossip,” the lines are out the door, packed, noisy, impatient.
But as you move down the row, the crowds get thinner.
The lines in front of “encourage” and “help” are nearly empty, waiting for someone to step forward.
The lesson?
Most people stand in line for what’s easy, judgmental, or makes them feel momentarily superior.
Far fewer seek out the doors marked by action, support, or kindness.
But those are exactly the lines where real impact happens.
What This Means For Us
It’s easy to criticize.
But it takes courage to step up, get involved, and lift others.Gossip offers instant connection—but no real value.
True fulfillment comes from encouragement and helping, even if few join you.The shortest, loneliest lines often lead to the biggest difference.
In work, life, and relationships, the world needs more people willing to choose the harder, less crowded path.
Action for the Week
Ask yourself:
Which line are you standing in today—at work, at home, online?
What’s one small way you could jump from the "criticize" crowd to the door marked "help"?
Challenge:
Try being the first in line to encourage or help someone. It won’t be crowded—but it will be meaningful.
“Anyone can join the crowd. True leaders build new paths—and invite others to follow.”
If this message resonates, reply and share: What’s one way you’ve seen encouragement or help change a situation? Or tag someone who always chooses the right lines.
Let’s fill the right lines together.
